Peugeot Traveller Indicators: Orange Warnings (2024-2025)

What each orange warning lamp on the Peugeot Traveller III (2024-2025) means, from AdBlue and service alerts to parking brake faults, and what to do.

Peugeot Traveller (2024-2025) in a workshop for a check

Orange warning lamps on your Peugeot Traveller III tell you that a fault may need looking into, or show you the status of a system. Some red or orange lamps come on for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition and should go off as soon as the engine starts. The way a lamp lights up, steady or flashing, and any message or sound that comes with it, tells you whether things are normal or whether there is a fault.

This guide covers the third-generation Peugeot Traveller from 2024-2025 and applies to vehicles built from 4 March 2024. Some lamps only appear on certain versions or with certain equipment, so you may not see all of them on your vehicle.

Service

Service warning light

This is the orange Service warning lamp. It comes on with a message when the vehicle detects a fault that has no warning lamp of its own. Whether it lights up briefly or stays on tells you how serious the fault is.

What to do:

If the lamp comes on temporarily with a message, one or more minor faults have been detected:

  • Read the message on the instrument panel to find the cause.
  • You may be able to sort some faults yourself, such as changing the battery in the remote control.
  • For other faults, such as with the tyre under-inflation detection system, go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on with a message, one or more major faults have been detected:

  • Read the message on the instrument panel to find the cause.
  • Then go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on with the message “Audible Warning System fault: Repair needed”, the audible warning system has failed:

  • Road signs recognition, Active Safety Brake/Collision Risk Alert, lane keeping assist and Driver Attention Warning by Camera may not work properly or may be unavailable.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Release not available (with electric parking brake)

Service warning light

This is the orange Service warning lamp, shown with the message “Parking brake fault”. When it stays on, the electric parking brake can no longer release itself automatically.

What to do:

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Service

Here the orange Service warning lamp stays on while the service spanner flashes and then stays on. It means your vehicle has gone past its servicing interval. This alert only applies to BlueHDi Diesel engines.

What to do:

  • Have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible.

Anti-lock braking system (ABS)

Amber brake warning light

This is the orange ABS warning lamp. When it stays on, the anti-lock braking system has a fault, although your normal braking still works.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully at a moderate speed.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

AdBlue® (Euro 6.4)

Scr emissions warning light

This is the orange AdBlue® warning lamp. It warns you as your AdBlue® driving range drops, and the way it lights up shows how much range you have left. If the tank runs empty, the engine will not start.

What to do:

If the lamp comes on for around 30 seconds when you start, with a message showing a range between 1,500 and 500 miles (2,400 and 800 km):

  • Top up the AdBlue®.

If the lamp stays on when you switch on the ignition, with a beep and a message showing a range between 500 and 62 miles (800 and 100 km):

  • Top up the AdBlue® promptly, or go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp flashes with a beep and a message showing a range of less than 62 miles (100 km):

  • You must top up the AdBlue® to avoid the engine being prevented from starting, or go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp flashes with a beep and a message saying starting is prevented, the AdBlue® tank is empty and the legally required immobiliser stops the engine from starting:

  • Top up the AdBlue®, or contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop, to restart the engine.
  • You must add at least 10 litres of AdBlue® to the tank.

SCR emissions control system (BlueHDi)

Scr emissions warning lightService warning lightAmber engine warning light

This alert uses the orange AdBlue®, Service and Engine self-diagnostics warning lamps. It means the SCR emissions control system has a problem, and if the fault is confirmed the engine may eventually be prevented from starting.

What to do:

If the lamps stay on when you switch on the ignition, with a beep and a message, a malfunction of the SCR emissions control system has been detected:

  • The alert goes off once the exhaust emissions return to normal levels.

If the AdBlue® lamp flashes when you switch on the ignition, with the Service and Engine self-diagnostics lamps on steadily, a beep and a message showing the driving range, you may be able to drive for up to 685 miles (1,100 km) before the immobiliser is triggered, depending on the message:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay so that starting is not prevented.

If you see the same lamps with a message saying starting is prevented, the permitted driving limit has been exceeded after the emissions control fault was confirmed, and the immobiliser stops the engine from restarting:

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop to get the engine started.

Engine self-diagnostic system (Diesel)

Amber engine warning lightService warning lightRed stop warning light

This alert usually uses the orange Engine self-diagnostics warning lamp. It warns you of a fault with the engine management, the emissions control system or the engine itself. How it lights up, and which other lamps come on with it, shows how serious the fault is.

What to do:

If the Engine self-diagnostics lamp flashes, the engine management system has a fault and there is a risk of destroying the catalytic converter:

  • You must contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the Engine self-diagnostics lamp stays on, the emissions control system has a fault:

  • The lamp should go off when you start the engine.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

If the Engine self-diagnostics lamp stays on together with the Service warning lamp, a minor engine fault has been detected:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the warning lamps for a major engine fault stay on:

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
  • Then contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Automatic functions deactivated (electric parking brake)

Electric parking brake auto off indicator

This orange lamp stays on when the automatic functions of the electric parking brake are switched off. That means the brake no longer applies itself when you switch off the engine, or releases itself when you accelerate.

What to do:

If automatic application and release are no longer possible:

  • Start the engine, apply the electric parking brake using the control, then take your foot fully off the brake pedal.
  • Hold the control pressed in the release direction for between 10 and 15 seconds, then let it go.
  • Press and hold the brake pedal, pull the control in the application direction for 2 seconds, then release both the control and the brake pedal.

Malfunction (with electric parking brake)

Electric parking brake fault warning lightService warning lightElectric parking brake auto off indicator

This alert uses the orange parking brake malfunction lamp, shown with the message “Parking brake fault”. Depending on which other lamps come on with it, either the vehicle cannot be held with the engine running, or the electric parking brake itself is faulty.

What to do:

If the malfunction lamp stays on with the Service warning lamp, the vehicle cannot be immobilised with the engine running:

  • If the manual apply and release commands do not work, the parking brake control is faulty.
  • Use the automatic functions at all times. They switch back on automatically if the control is faulty.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the malfunction lamp stays on with the automatic functions deactivated lamp and the Service warning lamp, the electric parking brake is faulty and the manual and automatic functions may not work:

  • To hold the vehicle when stationary, pull the parking brake control and hold it for approximately 7 to 15 seconds, until the indicator lamp lights up on the instrument panel.
  • If that does not work, park on level ground and, with a manual gearbox, engage a gear.
  • Then contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Braking

Amber brake warning light

This is the orange braking warning lamp. When it stays on, a minor fault has been found in the braking system.

This is the orange Collision Risk Alert/Active Safety Brake lamp. It flashes when the system is braking for you, and stays on when the system is switched off, has a fault or cannot see properly.

What to do:

If the lamp flashes, the system is briefly braking the vehicle to reduce the speed of a collision with the vehicle in front:

  • See the Driving section of the handbook for more details.

If the lamp stays on with a message, this simply confirms you have switched the system off using the touch screen.

If the lamp stays on with a message and a beep, the system has a fault:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on with the message “Driving Assistance Sensor blind: Clean sensor, see User Manual”, the sensor is covered:

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
  • Clean the front camera.

If the lamp stays on together with the Service warning lamp, the system has a fault:

  • If both lamps come on again after you switch off and restart the engine, go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on together with a second lamp, the system has been switched off for now because the driver and/or front passenger (depending on version) is in their seat without the seat belt fastened:

  • Fasten the seat belt.

Dynamic stability control /Anti-slip regulation (DSC)

Stability control warning light

This is the orange DSC/ASR lamp. It flashes while the system is working and stays on if the system has a fault.

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on with the message “Parking Assistance Sensor blind: Clean sensor, see User Manual”, a sensor is covered:

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
  • Clean the front and/or rear sensors.

Lane keeping assist

Amber lane assist indicatorService warning light

This is the orange lane keeping assist lamp. It flashes when the system steps in, and stays on when the system is on standby, has a fault or cannot see properly.

What to do:

If the lamp flashes, you are about to cross a broken lane marking without using your indicators:

  • The system steps in and corrects your path if it detects a risk of crossing a line or the hard shoulder by mistake (depending on version).
  • See the Driving section of the handbook for more details.

If the lamp stays on, the system has been switched off automatically or placed on standby.

If the lamp stays on with the message “Driving Assistance Sensor blind: Clean sensor, see User Manual”, the sensor is covered:

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
  • Clean the front camera.

Under-inflation

Tyre pressure warning lightService warning light

This is the orange under-inflation warning lamp. It warns you that one or more tyres are low on pressure, or, together with the Service warning lamp, that the tyre pressure monitoring system has a fault.

What to do:

If the lamp stays on with a beep and a message, the pressure in one or more tyres is too low:

  • Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • Reset the detection system once you have adjusted the pressures.

If the lamp flashes and then stays on, with the Service warning lamp on steadily, the tyre pressure monitoring system is faulty and your tyres are no longer being monitored:

  • Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Engine preheating (Diesel)

Diesel preheat indicator

This is the orange preheating lamp. It may come on when you switch on the ignition if the weather and engine temperature make it necessary. It stays on for a short time, up to approximately 30 seconds in severe weather.

What to do:

  • Wait until the lamp goes off before you start the engine.
  • Once it goes off, the engine starts straight away if you press and hold the clutch pedal (manual gearbox) or the brake pedal (automatic gearbox).
  • If the engine does not start, try again while keeping your foot on the pedal.

Front passenger airbag (ON)

Passenger airbag on indicator

This orange lamp stays on when the front passenger airbag is switched on, with its control set to “ON”.

What to do:

  • Do not fit a rearward-facing child seat on the front passenger seat while the airbag is on, as there is a risk of serious injury.

Front passenger airbag (OFF)

If You're Not Sure

If you are not sure what a lamp is telling you, read the message on the instrument panel and check the matching section of your handbook. Remember that an orange lamp may point to a fault that needs looking into, so if one stays on and you cannot work out why, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Most orange lamps on your Peugeot Traveller are there to give you time to act before a small issue becomes a bigger one. Take note of how the lamp lights up and any message with it, follow the steps above, and you will know whether you can carry on or need to get your vehicle looked at.
