Green and blue lamps on your instrument panel are indicator lamps. They are not warning you about a fault. They show that a system is switched on or tell you what it is doing at that moment. Some of them light up steadily and some flash, and they may come with a beep or a message on the screen.

This guide covers the Peugeot Expert III van built from 4 March 2024 (2024-2025). Some lamps depend on the version or equipment of your van, so you may not see all of them.

Automatic headlamp dipping

Peugeot groups two different symbols under this heading: the automatic headlamp dipping symbols and the Stop & Start symbol. The automatic headlamp dipping symbols stay on steadily when the function is active. The Stop & Start symbol lights up steadily or flashes briefly to show what the engine is doing when you stop.

What to do:

If the automatic headlamp dipping symbols are on steadily:

  • The function has been switched on in the vehicle's configuration menu and the lighting stalk is in the AUTO position.
  • See the Lighting and visibility section of the handbook for more details.

If the Stop & Start symbol is on steadily:

  • The Stop & Start system has put the engine into STOP mode because the vehicle has stopped. This is normal.

If the Stop & Start symbol flashes for a short time:

  • STOP mode is temporarily unavailable, or the engine is restarting automatically in START mode.
  • See the Driving section of the handbook for more details.

Vehicle ready to drive (Electric)

Ready to drive indicator

On electric versions, this lamp comes on steadily with a beep when the van is ready to set off. It also tells you that the heating and air conditioning systems are available.

What to do:

  • You can drive away. The lamp goes out once you reach about 3 mph (5 km/h).
  • It comes back on whenever the van comes to a stop.
  • It goes out for good when you switch off the motor and get out of the van.

Hill Assist Descent Control

Green hill start assist indicator

This lamp shows the status of Hill Assist Descent Control. It stays on steadily when the system is on but standing by, and it flashes while the system is actively controlling your speed.

What to do:

If the lamp is on steadily:

  • The system is switched on, but the conditions it needs to work are not met, such as the gradient, a speed that is too high or the gear engaged.

If the lamp is flashing:

  • The system is controlling your speed and braking the van for you.
  • Your brake lamps come on during the descent.

If You're Not Sure

Green and blue lamps are there to keep you informed, not to warn you of a fault. If you are unsure what a lamp means, check the matching section of your handbook for the system concerned. If a red or orange lamp comes on instead, there may be a fault that needs looking at, so follow the advice for that lamp and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop if it tells you to.

Once you know what these lamps look like, you can tell at a glance which lights and driving aids are active on your Peugeot Expert III. Keep this page handy, and take a look at our guides to the red and orange lamps as well.
