This red lamp covers both the handbrake and the brake fluid level, and it is linked to the central STOP warning light. It comes on each time you switch on the ignition. When it lights up as a warning, you will hear an audible signal and see a message on the multi-function display telling you the cause.
What to do:
If the message reads "Handbrake on":
- The message shows that the handbrake is applied or has not been released correctly.
If the message reads "Brake fluid level low" and the light stays on even with the handbrake released:
- There has been an excessive drop in the brake fluid, so stop immediately, somewhere safe.
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
If the message reads "Braking fault" and the ABS light comes on at the same time:
- The electronic brake force distribution is not working properly, so stop immediately, somewhere safe.
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Battery charge warning light

What to do:
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Air bags and rear, protective, pop-up roll-over hoops warning light

If it lights up with the engine running, you will hear an audible signal and see a message: "Air bag fault" means a fault in the front or side air bags, and "Roll-over hoops fault" means a fault in the pop-up roll-over hoops in the rear head restraints.
What to do:
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Seat belt not fastened warning light

This is the red seat belt reminder lamp. With the engine running, it comes on with an audible signal when the driver's seat belt is not fastened. If the belt is still not fastened, the light stays on and the signal gets louder.
What to do:
- The light and the signal are a reminder that the driver's seat belt is not fastened.
If You're Not Sure
If a red lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, stay calm, stop somewhere safe and check the message on the multi-function display. Your handbook is the best place to confirm what the light is telling you.
