Green and blue lamps on your dashboard are indicator lamps. They don't warn you about a fault. They tell you that a system or function is switched on or working. Some of them can light up steadily or flash, and each way has its own meaning.

This guide covers the Peugeot Rifter I (2018-2025) and applies to vehicles built from 1 November 2021. Some lamps only appear on certain versions or with certain equipment, so you may not see all of them on your Rifter.

Stop & Start

Green stop start indicator

This indicator lamp shows the Stop & Start symbol. It can either stay lit or flash for a short time.

When it stays lit, Stop & Start has put the engine into STOP mode because the vehicle has stopped. When it flashes for a short time, STOP mode is temporarily unavailable or START mode has kicked in automatically.

What to do:

If the lamp stays lit:

  • No action is needed. The system has simply put the engine into STOP mode while you're stopped.

If the lamp flashes for a short time:

  • No immediate action is needed.
  • For more details on how Stop & Start works, see the Driving section of your handbook.

Vehicle ready to drive (Electric)

Ready to drive indicator

This indicator lamp shows the vehicle ready symbol and appears on electric versions.

It stays lit and you hear a beep when it comes on. It means your Rifter is ready to drive and the heating and air conditioning systems are available.

What to do:

  • You can drive off when you're ready.
  • The lamp goes out once you reach about 3 mph (5 km/h) and comes back on when the vehicle comes to a stop.
  • It goes out for good when you switch off and get out of the vehicle.

Hill Assist Descent Control

Green hill start assist indicator

This indicator lamp shows the Hill Assist Descent Control symbol. It can either stay lit or flash.

When it stays lit, the system is switched on but the conditions for it to work aren't met, for example because of the gradient, a speed that's too high or the gear you're in. When it flashes, the system is controlling your speed on the way down.

What to do:

If the lamp stays lit:

  • No action is needed. The system is switched on but isn't controlling your speed yet.

If the lamp flashes:

  • No action is needed. The vehicle is being braked for you.
  • Your brake lights come on during the descent.

Eco mode (Petrol or Diesel)

This indicator lamp shows the ECO mode symbol and appears on petrol and diesel versions.

When it stays lit, ECO mode is active.

What to do:

  • No action is needed. Some settings are adjusted to cut your fuel consumption.

Automatic wiping

Green automatic wipers indicator

When it stays lit, your front foglamps are on.

What to do:

  • No action is needed. The lamp simply confirms that the front foglamps are on.

Sidelamps

When it stays lit, your sidelamps are on.

What to do:

  • No action is needed. The lamp simply confirms that the sidelamps are on.

Direction indicators

This indicator lamp shows the direction indicator arrow.

It flashes with a ticking sound to show that your direction indicators are on.

What to do:

  • No action is needed. The lamp simply confirms that your indicators are working.

The handbook shows two symbols for this indicator, both linked to automatic headlamp dipping.

When it stays lit, you have switched the function on through the Driving/Vehicle menu on the touch screen and the lighting control stalk is set to AUTO.

What to do:

  • No action is needed. The lamp confirms that the function is active.
  • For more details, see the Lighting and visibility section of your handbook.

Main beam headlamps

Blue main beam indicator

This indicator lamp shows the main beam headlamp symbol.

When it stays lit, your main beam headlamps are on.

What to do:

  • No action is needed. The lamp simply confirms that the main beam headlamps are on.

If You're Not Sure

If you can't tell which lamp you're looking at, or it behaves differently from what's described here, check the matching section of your handbook for that system. If a red or orange warning lamp comes on instead, there may be a fault that needs looking into, so contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Green and blue lamps are normally nothing to worry about. They simply tell you what your Rifter is doing. Get to know them, and you'll find it easier to spot when a lamp on your dashboard does need your attention.
