Peugeot RCZ I Indicators: Red Warnings (2009-2015)

What each red warning light on the Peugeot RCZ (2009-2015) means, from STOP and braking to coolant and seat belts, and what you should do.

A red warning lamp on your instrument panel means something needs your attention. It may point to a serious fault, or it may be telling you to do something, such as fastening a seat belt or releasing the parking brake. When one of these lamps comes on while the engine is running or you are driving, it shows a fault that needs action from you. It is often joined by an audible signal and a message on the screen to help you identify the problem.

This guide covers the first-generation Peugeot RCZ (2009-2015) and is based on handbook edition ed02-13, which applies to cars produced from 1 October 2013. Some lamps and messages depend on your version or equipment. Depending on your instrument panel, the lamp may be joined by a symbol in the central instrument panel screen and a message in the multifunction screen, or by a symbol and a message in the central instrument panel screen.

If the lamp shows that at least one rear passenger has unfastened their seat belt:

  • Make sure the rear passenger fastens their belt by inserting the tongue in the buckle.

If You're Not Sure

If a red lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, stay calm, stop somewhere safe and read the message on the screen, as it will help you identify the fault. Then check your handbook, and if you are still unsure or the problem continues, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Some warning lamps come on for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition and should go off once the engine has started. If a red lamp stays on before you move off, check what it means first. Red lamps are there to protect you and your RCZ, so always act on them promptly.
