Green and blue lights on your instrument panel are indicator lights. Rather than warning you about a fault, they tell you that a system is working or that a function has been switched on, so seeing one is usually nothing to worry about.

This guide covers the Peugeot 208 II (2025-present) and is based on handbook edition ed10-26, which applies to vehicles produced from 02/10/2026. Some of these lights only appear on certain versions or with certain equipment, so your car may not show every one listed here.

Stop & Start (ICE)

This indicator shows the Stop & Start symbol. When it stays on steadily, the Stop & Start system has put the engine into STOP mode because the car has come to a stop. If it flashes for a short time, STOP mode is briefly unavailable or START mode has been triggered automatically.

What to do:

If the light is steady:

  • No action is needed. The engine is simply in STOP mode while the car is stationary.

If the light flashes temporarily:

  • No action is needed. STOP mode is briefly unavailable or the engine has restarted automatically.
  • For more details, see the Starting & Operating section of your handbook.

Vehicle ready to drive (BEV)

What to do:

When the light comes on with a beep:

  • No action is needed. You can set off, and the thermal comfort systems are ready to use.

When the light goes out while driving or comes back on as you stop:

  • This is normal behaviour linked to your speed.
  • The light will go out when you switch off the motor and get out of the car.

  • No action is needed. This light is for information only.

If You're Not Sure

If you are not sure what a light on your instrument panel means, check the description of each light in your handbook, and look at whether a message or audible signal came with it. If a red or orange warning light comes on alongside a green or blue one, stop somewhere safe and follow the advice for that warning light.

Green and blue lights are there to keep you informed about what your Peugeot 208 is doing, so in most cases they are simply confirming that a system is on or working as it should. Keep this guide handy and you will always know what you are looking at.
