The handbook shows two versions of the low fuel symbol. When the lamp stays on steadily with the fuel gauge needle in the red zone, there are approximately 5 litres of fuel left and you are starting to use the reserve. When it flashes with the needle in the red zone, there is very little fuel left in the tank.
What to do:
If the lamp is on steadily:
- Refuel as soon as possible so you do not run out.
- The lamp will come on every time you switch on the ignition until you add enough fuel.
- The fuel tank holds approximately 50 litres.
- Never keep driving until the tank runs dry, as this could damage the emission control and injection systems.
If the lamp is flashing:
- Never keep driving until the tank runs dry, as this could damage the emission control and injection systems.
- The fuel tank holds approximately 50 litres.
Engine oil pressure

This is the red engine oil pressure warning lamp. When it stays on steadily, there is a fault with the engine lubrication system.
What to do:
- Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Park and switch off the ignition.
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Battery charge

This is the red battery charge warning lamp. It warns of a problem with battery charging, and the handbook gives a cut alternator belt as one example.
What to do:
- If the lamp does not go off, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Door(s) open

This is the red door open warning lamp. It stays on steadily with a message identifying the door when a door or the boot is still open. Above 6 mph (10 km/h), an audible signal sounds as well.
What to do:
Below 6 mph (10 km/h):
- Close the door or boot shown in the message.
Above 6 mph (10 km/h):
- The handbook gives no separate instruction for this case. The message on the screen shows which door is affected.
Seat belt(s) not fastened / unfastened

This is the red seat belt warning lamp. It stays on steadily or flashes, together with an audible signal, when a seat belt has not been fastened or has been unfastened.
What to do:
- Pull the seat belt strap across and push the tongue into the buckle.
If You're Not Sure
If a red lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, read the message on the instrument panel or multifunction screen, as it explains the fault. If you have any problems, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Red lamps are the ones you should never ignore. Knowing what each one means helps you react calmly and keep yourself and your Peugeot 2008 safe.
