An orange warning lamp on your dashboard is there to get your attention. It usually points to a fault, a warning or something you need to deal with, rather than an immediate emergency. This guide covers the orange lamps on the Peugeot Partner Tepee II, based on the handbook for vehicles produced from 1 March 2017 onwards.

Not every Partner Tepee has every lamp listed here. Some depend on the version of your vehicle or the equipment fitted, so you may not see all of them on your instrument panel.

Service

Service warning light

This is the orange Service warning lamp. If it comes on for a while and then goes out, the vehicle has detected a minor fault or warning. If it stays on, there is a major fault.

What to do:

If the lamp comes on temporarily:

  • Look at the alert log on the display or screen to see what the warning is.
  • See the Trip computer section of your handbook for more information.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on:

  • Look at the alert log on the display or screen to see which fault has been recorded.
  • See the Trip computer section of your handbook for more information.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

EOBD emissions control system

Amber engine warning light

This is the orange engine self-diagnosis lamp for the EOBD emissions control system. If it flashes or stays on, the system has a fault. EOBD (European On Board Diagnosis) is a diagnostics system that monitors emissions such as carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and particles, using oxygen sensors placed after the catalytic converters.

What to do:

  • Be aware that the catalytic converter could be damaged.
  • Have the system checked as soon as possible by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

ABS

ABS warning light

This is the orange ABS warning lamp. If it stays on, the anti-lock braking system has a fault. Your brakes still work as normal brakes, but without the anti-lock function.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully and at a reduced speed.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

ESC

Stability control warning light

This is the orange ESC warning lamp, which covers both the ASR and ESC systems. When it flashes, the system is working to help your grip. When it stays on, there is a fault with the ASR or ESC system, for example because a tyre is under-inflated.

What to do:

If the lamp is flashing:

  • No action is needed. The system is improving traction and helping to keep the vehicle stable and on line.

If the lamp stays on:

  • Check your tyre pressures, as under-inflation can cause this warning.
  • Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop, as parts such as a wheel speed sensor or the hydraulic unit may need to be looked at.

Under-inflation

Tyre pressure warning lightService warning light

This is the orange tyre under-inflation lamp. If it stays on by itself, one or more of your tyres has too little pressure. If it flashes and then stays on, together with the Service warning lamp and a message depending on equipment, the tyre pressure monitoring system has a fault or cannot detect the sensor on one of the wheels.

What to do:

If the under-inflation lamp stays on by itself:

  • Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • Do the check when the tyres are cold, if you can.

If it flashes and then stays on, with the Service warning lamp:

  • Be aware that the system can no longer warn you about low tyre pressure.
  • Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Front / lateral airbag

Amber airbag warning light

This is the orange airbag warning lamp. If it flashes or stays on, there is a fault with one of the airbags.

What to do:

  • Have the airbags checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
  • See the Airbags section of your handbook for more information.

Deactivation of the passenger’s front airbag

Passenger airbag off indicator

This orange lamp shows that the passenger's front airbag is switched off. It stays on when the airbag has been deliberately deactivated, which you do when a rearward-facing child seat is fitted in the front passenger seat.

What to do:

  • See the Airbags section of your handbook for more information on switching the passenger airbag off and on.

Particle filter

Particle filter warning light

This is the orange particle filter warning lamp. If it stays on, there is a problem with the particle filter, for example with the level of Diesel additive or a risk of the filter becoming blocked.

What to do:

  • Have the particle filter checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
  • See the Checking levels section of your handbook for more information.

AdBlue® (BlueHDi Diesel)

AdBlue warning lightService warning light

This orange AdBlue® lamp appears on BlueHDi Diesel models and tells you how much AdBlue® driving range you have left. An audible signal sounds and a message appears each time. How the lamp behaves depends on how low the AdBlue® level has become.

What to do:

If the AdBlue® lamp stays on when you switch on the ignition, and the message shows a remaining range of between 375 miles (600 km) and 1500 miles (2,400 km):

  • Top up the AdBlue® as soon as possible.

If the AdBlue® lamp flashes together with the Service warning lamp, and the message shows a remaining range of between 0 and 370 miles (0 and 600 km):

  • Top up the AdBlue® to avoid a breakdown.

If the AdBlue® lamp flashes together with the Service warning lamp, and the message says that starting is prevented:

  • The AdBlue® tank is empty, and the starting prevention system required by regulations will not let the engine start.
  • Top up the AdBlue® tank before you try to restart the engine.
  • Add at least 5 litres of AdBlue® to the AdBlue® tank.

SCR emissions control system (BlueHDi Diesel)

AdBlue warning lightService warning lightScr emissions warning light

On BlueHDi Diesel models, a fault with the SCR emissions control system lights up the orange AdBlue® lamp together with the Service lamp and the engine self-diagnosis lamp, with an audible signal and a message. How the lamps behave tells you how serious the fault is.

What to do:

If the lamps stay on when you switch on the ignition:

  • A temporary fault with the SCR emissions control system has been detected.
  • The alert will go out once the exhaust emissions return to normal levels.

If the lamps flash when you switch on the ignition and the message shows a remaining range:

  • After 31 miles (50 km) of driving with the alert, the fault is confirmed.
  • You can drive for up to 685 miles (1,100 km) before the starting prevention system stops the engine from starting.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay to avoid a breakdown.

If the lamps flash when you switch on the ignition and the message says that starting is prevented:

  • You have gone past the permitted driving limit after the fault was confirmed, so the engine will not start.
  • Call a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop to get the engine running again.

Rear foglamps

Rear fog lamp indicator

This orange lamp shows that you have switched the rear foglamps on. The rear foglamps only work when the sidelamps or dipped beam headlamps are on.

What to do:

  • Switch the rear foglamps off when visibility is normal, so you are not cautioned for using them.
  • Remember that the rear foglamps give a very bright red light that can dazzle drivers behind you.

If You're Not Sure

If an orange lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, check the alert log or any message on the display or screen first, then compare it with the descriptions above. If you are still unsure, or if the lamp is joined by other warnings, stop somewhere safe and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop for advice.

Orange lamps rarely mean you have to stop straight away, but they should not be ignored. Dealing with them promptly, whether that is checking your tyres, topping up the AdBlue® or booking a check, helps keep your Partner Tepee running safely and reliably.
