Orange warning lamps are there to get your attention. They usually point to a fault, a system that needs checking or something you need to do soon, such as charging the battery or checking your tyres. They are less urgent than red lamps, but you shouldn't ignore them.

This guide covers the orange warning lamps on the Peugeot Partner electric and applies to vehicles built from 1 March 2017. Some lamps depend on the version or equipment fitted, so not every lamp here will appear on your vehicle.

Reserve

Amber traction battery warning light

This is the orange reserve warning lamp. It comes on with an audible signal when the traction battery's state of charge is low.

What to do:

  • Check how much range you have left.
  • Put the vehicle on charge as soon as you can.

Service

Service warning light

This is the orange Service warning lamp. If it comes on for a while and then goes out, it is reporting minor faults or warnings. If it stays on, major faults are present.

What to do:

If the lamp comes on temporarily:

  • Check the alert log on the display or screen. You'll find more detail in the Trip computer section of the handbook.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on:

  • Check the alert log on the display or screen. You'll find more detail in the Trip computer section of the handbook.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

EOBD emissions control system

Amber engine warning light

This is the orange EOBD warning lamp. If it flashes or stays on, there is a fault with the system. EOBD (European On Board Diagnosis) is a diagnostics system that helps meet emissions limits for carbon monoxide (CO), unburnt hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particles. It monitors them using oxygen sensors placed downstream of the catalytic converters.

What to do:

  • Bear in mind that the catalytic converter could be damaged.
  • Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop as soon as possible.

ABS

ABS warning light

This is the orange ABS warning lamp. If it stays on, the anti-lock braking system has a fault. Your normal braking still works.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully and keep your speed down.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

ESC

Stability control warning light

This is the orange ESC warning lamp. If it flashes, the ASR or ESC system is stepping in to help. If it stays on, there is a fault with the ASR or ESC system, for example because the tyres are under-inflated.

What to do:

If the lamp is flashing:

  • This is normal. The system is improving traction and helping keep the vehicle stable and on course.

If the lamp stays on:

  • Check your tyre pressures, for example.
  • Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop, as the wheel speed sensor, hydraulic unit or similar parts may need checking.

Under-inflation

Tyre pressure warning lightService warning light

This is the orange tyre under-inflation warning lamp. If it stays on, one or more wheels don't have enough pressure. If it flashes and then stays on, together with the Service warning lamp and, depending on equipment, a message, the tyre pressure monitoring system has a fault or no sensor has been detected on one of the wheels.

What to do:

If the lamp stays on by itself:

  • Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • Ideally, do the check when the tyres are cold.

If the lamp flashes then stays on with the Service warning lamp:

  • Remember that the system can no longer reliably detect low tyre pressure.
  • Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Front / lateral airbag

Amber airbag warning light

This is the orange airbag warning lamp. If it flashes or stays on, there is a fault with one of the airbags.

What to do:

  • Have the airbags checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
  • You'll find more detail in the Airbags section of the handbook.

Deactivation of the passenger’s front airbag

Passenger airbag off indicator

This is the orange passenger airbag deactivation lamp. It stays on when you have deliberately switched off the passenger's front airbag, for example because a rearward facing child seat is fitted.

What to do:

  • You'll find more detail in the Airbags section of the handbook.

Particle filter

Particle filter warning light

This is the orange particle filter warning lamp. If it stays on, the particle filter has a malfunction, for example a problem with the Diesel additive level or a risk of the filter becoming blocked.

What to do:

  • Have the particle filter checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
  • You'll find more detail in the Checking levels section of the handbook.

AdBlue® (BlueHDi Diesel)

AdBlue warning lightService warning light

This is the orange AdBlue® warning lamp. If it comes on and stays on when you switch on the ignition, with an audible signal and a message showing your remaining range, you have between 375 miles (600 km) and 1500 miles (2,400 km) left. If it flashes with the Service warning lamp, an audible signal and a range message, you have between 0 and 370 miles (0 and 600 km) left. If it flashes with the Service warning lamp, an audible signal and a message saying starting is prevented, the AdBlue® tank is empty and the starting inhibition system required by regulations stops the engine from starting.

What to do:

If the lamp stays on at ignition with a range message:

  • Top up the AdBlue® as soon as you can.

If the lamp flashes with the Service warning lamp and a range message:

  • Top up the AdBlue® to avoid a breakdown.

If the lamp flashes with the Service warning lamp and a message saying starting is prevented:

  • Top up the AdBlue® before you try to restart the engine.
  • Add at least 5 litres of AdBlue® to the AdBlue® tank.

SCR emissions control system (BlueHDi Diesel)

AdBlue warning lightService warning lightScr emissions warning light

This lamp uses the orange AdBlue® icon and comes on together with the Service and engine self-diagnosis warning lamps, an audible signal and a message. If it stays on when you switch on the ignition, a temporary fault with the SCR emissions control system has been detected. If it flashes at ignition with a range message, the fault has been confirmed after 31 miles (50 km) with the alert showing, and you can drive for up to 685 miles (1,100 km) before the engine starting inhibition system kicks in. If it flashes at ignition with a message saying starting is prevented, you have gone past the authorised driving limit and the engine starting prevention system stops the engine from starting.

What to do:

If the lamps stay on at ignition:

  • The alert clears by itself once exhaust emissions are back to normal levels.

If the lamps flash at ignition with a range message:

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay to avoid a breakdown.

If the lamps flash at ignition with a message saying starting is prevented:

  • Call a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop, as they will need to help you restart the engine.

Rear foglamps

Rear fog lamp indicator

This is the orange rear foglamp indicator. It stays on when you have switched the rear foglamps on yourself. The rear foglamps only work when the sidelamps or dipped beam headlamps are on.

What to do:

  • Switch the rear foglamps off when visibility is normal, so you don't risk being cautioned.
  • Remember that the rear foglamps shine a dazzling red.

If You're Not Sure

If an orange lamp comes on and you're not sure what it means, check the message on the display or screen and the alert log, then look it up in your handbook. If you're still unsure, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop and tell them which lamp came on and what message, if any, you saw.

Orange lamps rarely mean you have to stop straight away, but they always deserve your attention. Deal with the cause promptly, whether that's charging the battery, checking your tyres or booking the vehicle in, and your Peugeot Partner electric will keep looking after you.
