Orange warning lamps on your Peugeot iOn tell you that a system has a fault, needs your attention or is in a particular state. They are not always as urgent as red lamps, but you should not ignore them.

This guide covers the first-generation Peugeot iOn (2016-present), based on the handbook for vehicles produced from 1 August 2017. Some lamps depend on the version or equipment of your car, so you may not see every one listed here.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

ABS warning light

This is the orange ABS warning lamp. When it stays on, the anti-lock braking system has a fault. Your car still has conventional braking.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully and at a reduced speed.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

Dynamic stability control and anti-slip regulation (DSC/ASR)

Stability control warning lightStability control off indicator

This lamp can come on in three different ways. DSC stands for dynamic stability control and ASR stands for anti-slip regulation.

If the DSC/ASR lamp flashes, the systems are working. They are optimising traction and helping the car stay stable in the direction you are steering.

If the DSC/ASR lamp stays on together with the DSC/ASR deactivation lamp, the systems have a fault.

If only the DSC/ASR deactivation lamp stays on, the deactivation button is active and DSC/ASR is switched off.

What to do:

If the DSC/ASR lamp is flashing:

  • Adapt your driving to the conditions.
  • Moderate your speed.

If both lamps stay on:

  • Have the systems checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If only the deactivation lamp stays on:

  • Press the DSC/ASR button to switch the systems back on.
  • DSC/ASR switches itself back on automatically when you start the car.

Electric power steering

Amber power steering warning light

This is the orange power steering warning lamp. When it stays on, the electric power steering has a malfunction.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully and at a reduced speed.
  • Have the steering checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Main battery protection system

Turtle mode warning light

This is the orange main battery protection lamp. When it stays on, the main battery's state of charge is too low or its temperature is too low. Only limited engine power is available while it is on.

What to do:

  • Recharge the main battery as soon as possible.
  • If the lamp does not go off, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Under-inflation

Tyre pressure warning light

This is the orange tyre under-inflation lamp, and it can come on in two ways.

If it stays on, the pressure in one or more tyres is too low.

If it flashes and then stays on, the tyre pressure monitoring has a fault and/or no sensor has been detected on at least one wheel. Tyre pressure monitoring is then no longer guaranteed.

What to do:

If the lamp stays on:

  • Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible, ideally when the tyres are cold.
  • Reinitialise the system after adjusting any tyre pressure or changing any wheel.
  • See the under-inflation detection section of the handbook for more details.

If the lamp flashes and then stays on:

  • Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Main electrical system auto-diagnostic system

System fault warning light

This is the orange main electrical system lamp. When it stays on, there is a fault in the main electrical system.

What to do:

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Have the car checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Passenger's airbag system

Passenger airbag off indicator

This orange lamp lights up in the central console. It stays on when the airbag control switch, found in the glove box or the central console depending on equipment, is set to OFF. This means the front passenger airbag is switched off.

What to do:

  • To switch the front passenger airbag on, set the control to ON. With the airbag on, do not fit a rearward-facing child seat on the front passenger seat.
  • Check the position of the control every time before you start the car.

Rear foglamp

Rear fog lamp indicator

This is the orange rear foglamp indicator. It stays on when you have switched the rear foglamp on with the ring on the lighting control stalk.

What to do:

  • To switch the rear foglamp off, turn the ring on the lighting control stalk towards the rear.

If You're Not Sure

If an orange lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, stay calm and stop somewhere safe if you need to. Check this guide or your handbook, and if a fault is shown, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Orange lamps on your Peugeot iOn are there to help you deal with problems early. Get to know what they mean, act on them promptly, and you will keep your car safer and more reliable.
