This is the central STOP warning light on your instrument panel. It comes on each time you switch on the ignition. It works together with the engine oil pressure, coolant level and brake fluid level warning lights, the coolant temperature gauge and the puncture warnings, which are shown as a message on the multi-function display.

What to do:

  • If it comes on while you are driving, stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
  • Read the message on the multi-function display and check which other warning light is lit.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

What to do:

  • Stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
  • If the engine is short of oil, top up the engine oil level.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without delay.

What to do:

  • Stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
  • Let the engine cool down before you top up the coolant, as the cooling system is pressurised.

This lamp is the braking warning symbol, and it works together with the central STOP warning light. It comes on each time you switch on the ignition. When it lights up, you will hear an audible signal and a message on the multi-function display tells you the cause: "Handbrake on", "Brake fluid level low" or "Braking fault".

What to do:

If the message reads "Handbrake on", the handbrake is on or has not been released properly while you are driving:

  • Release the handbrake fully.

If the message reads "Brake fluid level low", the brake fluid level has dropped too far. This is the case if the lamp stays lit even with the handbrake released:

  • Stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

If the message reads "Braking fault" and the ABS warning light comes on at the same time, there is a fault with the electronic brake force distribution system (EBFD):

  • Stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

If You're Not Sure

If a red lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, stop somewhere safe and read the message on the multi-function display, as it usually tells you the cause. Check your handbook, and if the lamp stays on or the message does not clear, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Red lamps on your Peugeot 807 are there to protect you and your car, so take them seriously and stop as soon as it is safe when the handbook tells you to. A quick reaction can save you from much bigger trouble later on.
