Peugeot 807 I Indicators: Orange Warnings (2002-2005)

What each orange warning light on the Peugeot 807 (2002-2005) means, from ABS and ESP faults to low fuel and air bags, and what you should do next.

Orange warning lamps on your Peugeot 807 tell you about a fault, a system that needs attention or something you need to act on. They are not usually a reason to stop straight away, but you should not ignore them.

This guide covers the first-generation Peugeot 807 (2002-2005) and is based on handbook edition ed02-04, which applies to vehicles produced from 01/07/2004. Some lamps only appear on certain versions or with certain equipment, for example Diesel engines or particular safety systems.

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning light

This is the anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning light. It comes on each time you switch on the ignition. If it stays on, or comes on above 8 mph (12 km/h), the ABS has a malfunction. You will also hear an audible signal and see the message "ABS fault" on the multi-function display. Your vehicle still has conventional servo-assisted braking.

What to do:

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Dynamic stability control warning light (ESP/ASR)

Dynamic stability control warning light (ESP/ASR) warning lamp icon

This is the dynamic stability control (ESP/ASR) warning light. It comes on each time you switch on the ignition. It flashes when the system is working and stays lit when you have switched the system off. If it stays on, or comes on while the engine is running and the vehicle is moving, you will hear an audible signal and see the message "ESP/ASR not functioning" on the multi-function display.

What to do:

If the light flashes while you drive:

  • The system is active. No action is needed.

If the light stays lit because you switched the system off:

  • This is normal while the system is switched off.

If the light stays on or comes on with the message "ESP/ASR not functioning":

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Engine diagnostics warning light

This is the engine diagnostics warning light. It comes on each time you switch on the ignition. If it comes on with the engine running, together with an audible signal and the message "Antipollution fault", the emission control system has a malfunction. If it flashes with the engine running, together with an audible signal and the message "Catalytic converter fault", the injection or ignition system has a malfunction, and on petrol engines there is a risk of damage to the catalytic converter.

What to do:

If the light stays on with "Antipollution fault":

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without delay.

If the light flashes with "Catalytic converter fault":

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without delay.

Particulate emission filter saturation warning (Diesel)

This warning appears on Diesel models as a message on the multi-function display, either "Diesel additive minimum level" or "Risk of clogging of the particulate emissions filter", with an audible signal. It means there is a particulate emissions filter fault. When it happens with the engine running, the filter is starting to clog, usually after exceptionally long spells of town driving at low speed or in heavy traffic.

What to do:

  • As soon as traffic conditions allow, drive at 35 mph (60 km/h) or more for at least five minutes, until the message clears, so the filter can regenerate.
  • If the message is still displayed after this, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Diesel pre-heat indicator light

What to do:

  • In cold weather, wait until the light goes out before you try the starter.

Passenger air bag disarmed indicator light

This is the passenger air bag disarmed indicator light. It comes on for a few seconds each time you switch on the ignition. When it lights up, you will hear an audible signal and see the message "Passenger air bag deactivated" on the multi-function display. If the passenger air bag is disarmed, the light comes on when you switch on the ignition and stays on.

What to do:

If the light stays on:

  • This shows the passenger air bag is disarmed.

If the light flashes:

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Front, side and curtain air bags warning light

This is the front, side and curtain air bags warning light. It comes on when you switch on the ignition. If it comes on with the engine running, together with an audible signal and the message "Air bag fault" on the multi-function display, there is a fault with a front, side or curtain air bag.

What to do:

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Low fuel level warning light

Low fuel level warning light warning lamp icon

This is the low fuel level warning light. It comes on each time you switch on the ignition. If it comes on with the message "Fuel level low", you have enough fuel left to drive approximately 30 miles (50 km); the tank holds approximately 80 litres. If it flashes with the message "Fuel circuit neutralised", there is a fuel gauge malfunction or the fuel supply has been cut off.

What to do:

If the light comes on with "Fuel level low":

  • Bear in mind you have approximately 30 miles (50 km) of fuel left.

If the light flashes with "Fuel circuit neutralised":

  • Restore the fuel supply, following the "Practical Information - Fuel Supply Cut-Off" section of your handbook.
  • Or contact a PEUGEOT dealer, depending on the circumstances.

If You're Not Sure

If you are not sure what a lamp or message means, check the message on the multi-function display and your handbook. If you are still in doubt, stop somewhere safe and contact a PEUGEOT dealer for advice.
