Peugeot 306 I Indicators: Green and Blue Warnings (2002)

What the green and blue lamps on your Peugeot 306 (2002) mean, including the diesel pre-heat light, with simple steps on what to do when you see them.

Green and blue lamps on your dashboard are there to tell you what the car is doing rather than to warn you about a fault. This guide covers the Peugeot 306 I, based on handbook edition ed02-01, which applies to cars produced from 1 January 2002. This edition of the handbook doesn't state lamp colours, so this post covers the information lamp from the warning lamps chapter: the one that tells you what the car is doing rather than warning you about a fault.

Some lamps depend on your car's version or equipment, so you may not see every one described here on your own instrument panel.

Diesel pre-heat light

Diesel pre-heat light warning lamp icon

This is the diesel pre-heat symbol on your instrument panel. If it comes on when you go to start the car, it is telling you to wait before using the starter. If the engine is already warm enough, the light won't come on at all.

What to do:

If the light comes on:

  • Wait until the light goes out.
  • Then use the starter to start the engine.

If the light doesn't come on:

  • The engine is warm enough, so you can start it straight away without waiting.

If You're Not Sure

If you're not sure what a lamp on your Peugeot 306 is telling you, check the warning lamps section of your handbook. If you're still unsure, ask a PEUGEOT dealer for advice.

Information lamps like this one are simply part of the normal routine of using your car. Get to know what they look like, and you'll quickly spot when something different appears on your instrument panel.
