This is the red open door symbol. It stays on steadily with a message telling you which door is affected, because a door or the boot is not properly closed. Above 6 mph (10 km/h) an audible signal sounds as well.
What to do:
If you are below 6 mph (10 km/h):
- Close the door or boot shown in the message.
If you are above 6 mph (10 km/h) and the audible signal sounds:
- Stop somewhere safe and close the door or boot shown in the message.
Seat belts not fastened / unfastened

This is the red seat belt symbol. When it stays on, the driver or a front or rear passenger has not fastened their seat belt, or has unfastened it. Illuminated dots show which seats have an unfastened belt. They stay on for about 30 seconds when you start the car and stay on while you drive between 0 and 12 mph (0 and 20 km/h). Above 12 mph (20 km/h) they flash, with an audible signal for about 120 seconds.
What to do:
- Pull the seat belt strap across, then push the tongue into the buckle.
- Check the illuminated dots to see which passengers still need to fasten their belts.
Electric parking brake
This is a red parking brake symbol that flashes. It means the electric parking brake is not being applied automatically, and applying or releasing it is not working properly.
What to do:
- Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and park on flat, level ground.
- Engage a gear, or select P if you have an automatic gearbox, then switch off the ignition.
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Brakes

This is the red brake symbol. When it stays on steadily, the brake fluid level has dropped significantly.
What to do:
- Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Top up the brake fluid with a fluid listed by PEUGEOT.
- If the problem continues, have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Low fuel level

This is the fuel pump symbol, with the reserve level shown in red. It stays on steadily with a message and an audible signal. When it first comes on, there are about 6 litres of fuel left in the tank, which holds about 53 litres in total. The lamp comes back on every time you switch on the ignition until you add enough fuel, and the message and signal repeat more and more often as the level gets closer to zero.
What to do:
- Refuel as soon as possible so you do not run out.
- Never keep driving until the tank is empty, as this could damage the emission control and injection systems.
If You're Not Sure
If a red lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, stay calm and read the message that appears with it. If the lamp points to a serious fault, stop somewhere safe as soon as you can. If you have any problems, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Some lamps come on for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition and should go off once the engine starts. If a red lamp stays on before you move off, check what it means here or in your handbook first. Paying attention to these lamps helps keep you and your Peugeot 3008 safe on the road.
