This lamp warns of a problem with the braking system and has two cases. The first brake icon stays on by itself when there is a minor fault with the braking system. The second brake icon stays on together with the ABS warning lamp when the electronic brake force distribution (EBFD) system has a fault.
What to do:
If the brake lamp is on by itself (minor fault):
- Drive carefully.
- Have the braking system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop as soon as possible.
If the brake lamp is on together with the ABS lamp (EBFD fault):
- Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Dynamic stability control (DSC/ASR)

This lamp shows what the DSC/ASR system is doing. When it flashes, the system is actively working to improve traction and keep the car stable if it loses grip or starts to leave its path. When it stays on steadily, the DSC/ASR system has a fault.
What to do:
If the lamp is flashing:
- This is normal: the system is helping you keep grip and stay on course.
If the lamp stays on:
- Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Distance alert / Active Safety Brake
This lamp shows the Distance alert / Active Safety Brake system in action or at fault. When it flashes, the system is braking briefly to reduce the speed of a collision with the vehicle ahead. When it stays on with a message and an audible signal, the system has a fault.
What to do:
If the lamp is flashing:
- The system is braking for you to lessen an impact with the vehicle ahead.
If the lamp stays on:
- Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Lane Departure Warning System

This lamp is linked to the Lane Departure Warning System. When it flashes with an audible signal, you have crossed a lane marking on the left or right. When it stays on with a message, the system has a fault.
What to do:
If the lamp is flashing:
- Steer in the opposite direction to bring the car back onto the correct path.
- See the Lane Departure Warning System section of your handbook for more details.
If the lamp stays on:
- Stay alert and drive carefully.
- Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Assisted Lane Departure Warning System
This lamp shows the status of the Assisted Lane Departure Warning System. The first icon stays on steadily when the system is not available, and flashes when you are about to cross a solid lane marking without using your indicators. The other two icons stay on with a message, an audible signal and the Service lamp when the system has a fault.
What to do:
If the first icon stays on:
- The system has been deactivated or is on automatic standby.
- See the Assisted Lane Departure Warning System section of your handbook for more details.
If the first icon is flashing:
- The system is active and is correcting your path on the side where the lane marking was detected.
If a fault icon stays on with the Service lamp:
- Stay alert and drive carefully.
- Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Airbags

This lamp comes on for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition and should then go off. If it stays on steadily, one of the airbag or seat belt pretensioner systems has a fault.
What to do:
When you switch on the ignition:
- The lamp should go off once the engine has started.
- If it does not go off, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
If the lamp stays on:
- Have the airbag and seat belt pretensioner systems checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Under-inflation

This lamp is linked to your tyre pressures. The first icon stays on steadily when the pressure in one or more tyres is too low. The other two icons flash and then stay on, together with the Service lamp, when the tyre pressure monitoring system has a fault or no sensor is detected on one of the wheels.
What to do:
If the low pressure icon stays on:
- Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible.
- Ideally, do this when the tyres are cold.
If a fault icon comes on with the Service lamp:
- Remember that low tyre pressure may not be detected.
- Have the system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Engine autodiagnosis system

This lamp warns of engine-related faults. When it flashes, the engine management system has a fault and there is a risk of destroying the catalytic converter. When it stays on steadily, the emission control system has a fault.
What to do:
If the lamp is flashing:
- Have the car checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
If the lamp stays on:
- The lamp should go off once the engine has started.
- If it does not, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.
AdBlue® (BlueHDi Diesel)

On BlueHDi Diesel versions, this lamp warns you about the AdBlue level, always with an audible signal and a message. Either AdBlue icon may stay on when you switch on the ignition, with a message showing a remaining range of between 350 miles (600 km) and 1500 miles (2400 km). The second icon flashes when the remaining range is between 0 and 350 miles (600 km), and also flashes when the tank is empty and the legally required starting inhibition system stops the engine from starting.
What to do:
If an AdBlue icon stays on (350 to 1500 miles left):
- Have the AdBlue topped up as soon as possible at a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
- You can add up to 10 litres of AdBlue to the tank.
If the AdBlue icon flashes with a range message (0 to 350 miles left):
- Top up the AdBlue to avoid a breakdown, or go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
- You can add up to 10 litres of AdBlue to the tank.
If the AdBlue icon flashes and starting is prevented (tank empty):
- To start the engine, top up the AdBlue or go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
- You must add at least 4 litres of AdBlue to the tank.
SCR emissions control system (BlueHDi Diesel)

On BlueHDi Diesel versions, this lamp warns of a fault with the SCR emissions control system. It always comes on when you switch on the ignition, together with the Service and engine diagnostic lamps, an audible signal and a message. Either icon may stay on steadily when a fault has been detected. The second icon flashes once the fault is confirmed, first with a message showing the remaining range and then, once the limit is passed, when the engine starting inhibition system stops the engine from starting.
What to do:
If an SCR icon stays on (fault detected):
- The alert goes away once exhaust emissions return to normal levels.
If the SCR icon flashes with a range message (fault confirmed):
- You can drive for up to 650 miles (1 100 km) before the engine starting inhibition system is triggered.
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay to avoid a breakdown.
If the SCR icon flashes and starting is prevented (driving limit exceeded):
- To be able to start the engine, you must call on a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
If You're Not Sure
If an orange lamp comes on and you are not sure why, read the message shown in the instrument panel, as it will usually point you to the cause. If the lamp stays on after the engine has started, check it before you set off, and if you are still unsure, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Most orange lamps on your Peugeot 3008 are telling you something useful rather than signalling an emergency, but they all deserve your attention. Note whether a lamp is steady or flashing, read the message that comes with it, and act on it promptly so a small issue does not become a bigger one.
