Peugeot 206 SW Indicators: Green and Blue Warnings (2002-2004)

Peugeot 206 SW (2002-2004) green and blue lights: what the handbook says, plus the coolant and oil temperature gauges and what to do.

This page covers the green and blue lights on the Peugeot 206 SW built from October 2003, based on handbook edition ed03-03. The warning lamps chapter used for this guide does not show any lamp as green or blue. To keep this guide accurate, we only cover the two temperature gauges in that chapter, which give you status information rather than acting as coloured warning lamps.

Some displays depend on the version, engine and equipment of your car, so yours may not have every item listed here. For the red and amber warning lamps, see our other 206 SW warning light guides.

Coolant temperature indicator

Coolant temperature indicator warning lamp icon

This is a gauge with a needle rather than a warning lamp. It shows the temperature of the engine coolant and works together with the central STOP warning light. If the needle is in zone A, the temperature is correct. If it is in zone B, the temperature is too high.

What to do:

If the needle is in zone A:

  • No action is needed, the coolant temperature is correct.

If the needle is in zone B and the central STOP warning light flashes:

  • Stop the car as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Engine oil temperature indicator

This indicator has a needle that shows the engine oil temperature while the engine is running. If the needle is in zone C, the oil temperature is correct. If it is in zone D, the oil temperature is too high.

What to do:

If the needle is in zone C:

  • No action is needed, the oil temperature is correct.

If the needle is in zone D:

  • Reduce your speed to bring the oil temperature down.

If You're Not Sure

If you see a light or gauge reading you don't recognise, check the warning lamps chapter of your handbook. If the handbook tells you to stop, find a safe place to pull over before doing anything else. If you are still unsure, ask a PEUGEOT dealer.

Keeping an eye on your temperature gauges helps you spot a problem early. Take a moment to learn what normal looks like on your 206 SW, so you can notice straight away if the needle moves into the high zone.
