Orange warning lamps on your Peugeot Landtrek tell you that something needs your attention. It may be a fault that should be checked, or a system that is working or has been switched off. Some orange lamps also come on for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition and should go off once the engine starts.

This guide covers the first-generation Peugeot Landtrek (2020-present), based on the handbook for vehicles produced from 1 September 2022. Some lamps depend on the version or equipment of your car, so you may not see every one listed here.

Service

Service warning light

This is the orange Service warning lamp. It comes on with a message when the car detects one or more faults that do not have their own warning lamp. If it comes on only temporarily, the fault is minor. If it stays on, the fault is major.

What to do:

If the lamp comes on temporarily:

  • Read the message on the instrument panel to find out what the fault is.
  • You may be able to sort some faults yourself, such as changing the battery in the remote control.
  • For other faults, such as a problem with the tyre under-inflation detection system, go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on:

  • Read the message on the instrument panel to find out what the fault is.
  • Then go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Engine pre-heating (Diesel)

Diesel preheat indicator

This orange lamp is the Diesel engine pre-heating indicator. It comes on for a short time when you switch on the ignition, if the weather and engine temperature mean the engine needs pre-heating. In severe weather it can stay on for up to about 30 seconds.

What to do:

  • Wait until the lamp goes off before you start the engine.
  • Once it goes off, the engine will start straight away if you press and hold the clutch pedal (manual gearbox) or the brake pedal (automatic gearbox).
  • If the engine does not start, try starting it again while keeping your foot on the pedal.

Low fuel level

Amber low fuel warning light

This orange lamp is the low fuel warning. It stays on, with the reserve level shown in red, and when it first comes on you have about 11 litres of fuel left in the tank. Until you refuel, the alert repeats every time you switch on the ignition, more and more often as the tank gets closer to empty.

What to do:

  • Refuel without delay so you do not run out of fuel.
  • Never drive until the tank is completely empty, as this could damage the emissions control and injection systems.

Engine self-diagnostic system

Amber engine warning lightService warning light

This is the orange engine self-diagnostic warning lamp. If it flashes, the engine management system has a fault. If it stays on, the emissions control system has a fault.

What to do:

If the lamp is flashing:

  • There is a risk that the catalytic converter will be destroyed.
  • You must contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on:

  • The lamp should go off when the engine is started.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

Particle filter (BlueHDi Diesel)

Particle filter warning lightAmber engine warning light

On BlueHDi Diesel engines, this alert shows as the engine self-diagnostic lamp flashing while a second warning lamp stays on. A message also warns you that the particle filter risks becoming blocked. It means the particle filter is nearly saturated.

What to do:

  • As soon as traffic conditions allow, regenerate the filter by driving at 37 mph (60 km/h) or more.
  • Keep going until the warning lamp goes off.

Engine self-diagnostic system

Here the engine self-diagnostic lamp stays on together with a second lamp. If it comes on with the Service warning lamp, a minor engine fault has been detected, and on BlueHDi Diesel engines maintenance is needed. If it comes on with the other warning lamp shown here, a major engine fault has been detected.

What to do:

If it comes on with the Service warning lamp (minor fault):

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If it comes on with the other warning lamp (major fault):

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
  • Then contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

AdBlue® (BlueHDi Diesel)

AdBlue warning light

This orange lamp is the AdBlue® warning on BlueHDi Diesel engines. It comes on with a beep and a message telling you how much driving range is left before the AdBlue® runs out. The faster it flashes, the less range you have, and once it stays on the tank is empty and the engine will not start.

What to do:

If it flashes slowly and the range is between 1,500 and 500 miles (2,400 and 800 km):

  • Top up the AdBlue®.

If it flashes slowly and the range is between 500 and 62 miles (800 and 100 km):

  • Top up the AdBlue® promptly, or go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If it flashes quickly and the range is less than 62 miles (100 km):

  • You must top up the AdBlue® or the engine will not be able to start.
  • Alternatively, go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If it stays on and the message says starting is impossible:

  • The AdBlue® tank is empty and the legally required engine immobiliser is stopping the engine from starting.
  • To restart the engine, top up the AdBlue® or contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
  • You must add at least 10 litres of AdBlue® to the tank.

SCR emissions control system (BlueHDi Diesel)

AdBlue warning lightAmber engine warning light

On BlueHDi Diesel engines, the AdBlue® lamp stays on together with a second warning lamp, with a beep and a message. It means a malfunction of the SCR emissions control system has been detected. Depending on the message, you can drive for up to 685 miles (1,100 km) before the engine immobiliser stops the engine from restarting.

What to do:

If the message reports a malfunction:

  • The alert clears once the exhaust emissions return to normal levels.

If the message shows the remaining driving range:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay, so the engine does not become impossible to start.

If the message says starting is impossible:

  • The driving limit has been exceeded after the fault was confirmed, and the engine immobiliser is preventing a restart.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop to get the engine started.

Anti-lock braking system (ABS)

ABS warning light

This is the orange ABS warning lamp. If it stays on, the anti-lock braking system has a fault, although your car still has conventional braking.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully at a moderate speed.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Rear differential locking

Rear differential lock indicator

This orange lamp shows the status of rear differential locking. If it flashes, the system is switched on but the differential is not locked yet. If it stays on, the rear differential is locked.

What to do:

If the lamp is flashing:

  • No action is needed, the differential has not locked yet.

If the lamp stays on:

  • To unlock the rear differential, press the rear differential locking button again.

4x4 transmission self-diagnostics

4x4 system fault warning light

This is the orange 4x4 transmission self-diagnostic lamp. If it stays on, the wheels are not receiving any drive power and the vehicle must be switched off.

What to do:

  • Stop somewhere safe and switch the vehicle off.
  • Wait for the lamp to go out before restarting the vehicle.
  • If the lamp stays on, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Dynamic stability control /Anti-slip regulation (DSC)

Stability control warning light

Two orange icons are used for the DSC/ASR system. The deactivation icon stays on when the system has been switched off. The second icon flashes while the system is working to correct a loss of grip or trajectory, and stays on if the system has a fault.

What to do:

If the deactivation icon is on:

  • The DSC/ASR system switches back on automatically when you start the vehicle.

If the second icon is flashing:

  • No action is needed, the system is working.

If the second icon stays on:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Hill start assist

Amber hill start assist indicatorService warning light

The hill start assist lamp stays on together with the Service warning lamp, and the message "Anti roll-back system fault" appears. It means the hill start assist system has a fault.

What to do:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

75 mph overspeed alert (120 km/h)

120 km/h overspeed warning light

This orange lamp is the overspeed alert. It stays on with a beep when your speed goes above 75 mph (120 km/h), depending on the country where the car was sold.

What to do:

  • Slow down.

Front passenger airbag (ON)

Passenger airbag on indicator

This orange lamp shows the front passenger airbag status. If it stays on, the front passenger airbag is active and its control is set to "ON".

What to do:

  • Do NOT fit a rearward-facing child seat on the front passenger seat, as there is a risk of serious injury.

Front passenger airbag (OFF)

Passenger airbag off indicator

This orange lamp shows that the front passenger airbag is switched off. If it stays on, the airbag is deactivated and its control is set to "OFF".

What to do:

  • You can fit a rearward-facing child seat on the front passenger seat.
  • Do not do this if there is an airbag fault, shown by the Airbags warning lamp being on.

Under-inflation

Tyre pressure warning lightService warning light

This is the orange tyre under-inflation lamp. If it stays on with a beep and a message, the pressure in one or more tyres is too low. If it flashes and then stays on while the Service warning lamp is also on, the tyre pressure monitoring system is faulty.

What to do:

If only the under-inflation lamp is on:

  • Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • The detection system resets itself automatically once you have adjusted the pressures.

If the under-inflation lamp flashes then stays on with the Service warning lamp:

  • Tyre pressures are no longer being monitored.
  • Check your tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Rear foglamps

Rear fog lamp indicator

This orange lamp is the rear foglamp indicator. It stays on while your rear foglamps are switched on.

What to do:

  • Switch the rear foglamps off when you no longer need them.

If You're Not Sure

If an orange lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, check the message on the instrument panel first. If the car does not feel right, stop somewhere safe, switch off the ignition and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop for advice.

Most orange lamps on your Peugeot Landtrek are either a status update or an early warning, so acting on them promptly helps you avoid bigger problems later. Keep this guide handy, and refer to your handbook for full details on each system.
