Green and blue lights on your dashboard are indicator lights. They show you that a system is working or has been switched on, rather than warning you about a fault. They are there for your information, so seeing one is usually nothing to worry about.

This guide covers the Peugeot 308 III (2025-present) and is based on handbook edition ed09-25, which applies to vehicles produced from 12/09/2025. Some lights only appear on certain versions or with certain equipment, such as the ICE, PHEV or BEV versions, so your car may not show every light listed here.

Green warning/indicator lights Stop & Start (ICE)

Green warning/indicator lights Stop & Start (ICE) warning lamp icon

This green Stop & Start symbol appears on ICE versions. It can light up steadily or flash briefly. When it is steady, the Stop & Start system has put the engine into STOP mode because the vehicle has stopped. When it flashes for a short time, STOP mode is temporarily unavailable or START mode has been triggered automatically.

What to do:

If the light is steady:

  • No action is needed. The engine has gone into STOP mode because your vehicle has stopped.

If the light is flashing briefly:

  • No action is needed. STOP mode is not available at the moment, or the engine is restarting automatically in START mode.

Vehicle ready to drive (PHEV or BEV)

This green "ready" indicator appears on PHEV and BEV versions. It stays on steadily and you will hear an audible signal when it comes on. It means your vehicle is ready to drive and the thermal comfort systems are available. Once you reach about 5 km/h (3 mph), the light goes out, and it comes back on when the vehicle stops moving.

What to do:

When the light comes on with an audible signal:

  • Your vehicle is ready to drive, so you can set off when it is safe to do so.

When the light goes out and comes back on:

  • It goes out once you pass about 5 km/h (3 mph) and comes back on when you stop. This is normal.
  • It goes out for good once you switch off the motor and get out of the vehicle.

If You're Not Sure

If you are not sure what a light means, check the matching section of your handbook for more information on that system or function. Green and blue lights are for information only. If a red or orange warning light comes on and stays on, there may be a fault that needs further investigation.

Green and blue lights are there to keep you informed about what your Peugeot 308 is doing. Once you know what each one means, you can tell at a glance that everything is working as it should.
