This is the red charging cable lamp. It comes on steadily when you switch on the ignition while the charging cable is plugged into the car's charging socket. If a message also appears, the car cannot be started while the cable is connected.
What to do:
If the lamp is on without a message:
- This is for information only: the charging cable is connected to the car.
If the lamp is on with a message:
- Unplug the charging cable.
- Close the charging flap.
12 V battery charge

This is the red 12 V battery charge warning lamp. When it stays on steadily, the battery charging circuit is faulty, for example because of dirty battery terminals or a loose or broken alternator belt.
What to do:
- Stop the car as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
- If the electric parking brake stops working, secure the car: with the automatic gearbox or drive selector, place the chock against one of the wheels.
- Clean and tighten the battery terminals. If the lamp stays on after you start the engine, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Braking

This is the red braking warning lamp. If it stays on steadily by itself, the brake fluid level in the braking circuit has dropped significantly. If it stays on together with a second warning lamp, the electronic brake force distribution (EBFD) system is faulty.
What to do:
If the braking lamp is on by itself (low brake fluid):
- Stop the car as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
- Top up the brake fluid with fluid that meets the manufacturer's recommendations.
- If the problem continues, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
If the braking lamp is on with the second lamp (EBFD fault):
- Stop the car as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.
- Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Electric parking brake

This is the red electric parking brake lamp. When it stays on steadily, the electric parking brake is applied. When it flashes, there is a fault with applying or releasing the brake.
What to do:
If the lamp is on steadily:
- Release the parking brake before you drive off.
If the lamp is flashing:
- Stop as soon as it is safe to do so, parking on flat, level ground.
- With an automatic gearbox or drive selector, select P.
- Switch off the ignition and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
Door(s) open

This is the red open door lamp. It stays on steadily with a message showing which opening is affected, and it means a door, the boot or the bonnet is not properly closed. A warning sound is added above 6 mph (10 km/h) for a door or the boot, or above 4 mph (6 km/h) for the bonnet.
What to do:
- Close the door, boot or bonnet shown in the message properly.
Seat belts not fastened/unfastened

This is the red seat belt reminder lamp. It stays on or flashes with a warning sound that gets louder, and it means a seat belt has not been fastened or has been unfastened. The lamp for the seat concerned also comes on or flashes in the car symbol.
What to do:
- Fasten the seat belt for the seat shown, or ask the passenger to fasten theirs.
If You're Not Sure
If a red lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, stay calm and stop somewhere safe as soon as you can. Check the message on the screen, look up the lamp in your handbook, and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop if you are still unsure.
Most red lamps either remind you to do something simple or tell you to stop and get help. Knowing which is which makes it much easier to react calmly when one comes on in your Peugeot 3008.
