Orange lamps on your Peugeot 3008 either warn you about a fault or show the status of a system. Some come on for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition and should go off once the engine starts. If one comes on while you are driving, there may be a fault that needs looking into.

This guide covers the third-generation Peugeot 3008 (2024-2025) and applies to vehicles built from 2 September 2024. Some lamps depend on the engine type, version or equipment, so your car may not have all of them.

Service

Service warning light

This is the orange Service lamp, which also appears alongside several other lamps in this guide. It comes on with a message when the car detects one or more faults that have no warning lamp of their own: briefly for minor faults, and steadily for major faults or a failure of the audible warning system.

What to do:

If it comes on briefly with a message (minor fault):

  • Read the message on the instrument panel to find out what the fault is.
  • You can deal with some faults yourself, such as changing the battery in the remote control.
  • For others, such as a fault with the tyre under-inflation detection system, go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If it stays on with a message (major fault):

  • Read the message on the instrument panel to find out what the fault is.
  • Then go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If it stays on with the message "Audible Warning System fault: Repair needed":

  • Be aware that Road signs recognition, Active Safety Brake/Collision Risk Alert, Lane keeping assist and Driver Attention Warning by Camera may not work properly or may be unavailable.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Release not available (with electric parking brake)

Service warning light

This warning uses the orange Service lamp. It stays on with the message "Parking brake fault" when the electric parking brake can no longer release itself automatically.

What to do:

  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Braking

Amber brake warning light

This is the orange braking lamp. When it stays on, the car has detected a minor fault in the braking system.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Malfunction (with electric parking brake)

Electric parking brake fault warning lightService warning lightElectric parking brake auto off indicator

This warning shows the parking brake malfunction lamp together with the Service lamp, and in the more serious case the Automatic functions deactivated lamp as well. With the first two lamps and the message "Parking brake fault", the car cannot be held stationary with the engine running. If the Automatic functions deactivated lamp also comes on, the electric parking brake itself is faulty and both the manual and automatic functions may not work.

What to do:

If the malfunction and Service lamps stay on:

  • If applying and releasing the brake manually does not work, the electric parking brake control is faulty.
  • Rely on the automatic functions at all times. They are reactivated automatically when the control has a fault.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the Automatic functions deactivated lamp is also on:

  • When stationary, pull the electric parking brake control and hold it for approximately 7 to 15 seconds, until the indicator lamp lights up on the instrument panel.
  • If that does not work, park on a level surface. With an automatic gearbox or drive selector, select mode P, then place the supplied chock against one of the wheels.
  • Then contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Automatic functions deactivated (electric parking brake)

Electric parking brake auto off indicator

This orange lamp relates to the electric parking brake. When it stays on, the brake no longer applies itself automatically when you switch off the engine, or releases itself automatically when you accelerate.

What to do:

If automatic application and release are no longer possible, follow this procedure:

  • Start the engine, apply the electric parking brake with the control, then take your foot fully off the brake pedal.
  • Hold the control in the release direction for between 10 and 15 seconds, then let go.
  • Press and hold the brake pedal, pull the control in the application direction for 2 seconds, then let go of both the control and the pedal.

Foot on the brake

Foot on brake indicator

This orange lamp shows a foot on the brake. It stays on when you are pressing the brake pedal too lightly, or not at all.

What to do:

  • With the engine running, press the brake pedal before you release the parking brake.
  • On an automatic gearbox or drive selector, also press the brake pedal to move out of mode P.

Anti-lock braking system (ABS)

Amber brake warning light

This is the orange ABS lamp. When it stays on, the anti-lock braking system has a fault.

What to do:

  • Your car still has conventional braking.
  • Drive carefully at a moderate speed.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Power steering

Amber power steering warning light

This is the orange power steering lamp. When it stays on, the car has detected a minor fault in the power steering.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully at a moderate speed.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Engine self-diagnostic system (Petrol, Hybrid or Rechargeable hybrid)

Amber engine warning light

This is the orange engine warning lamp on petrol, hybrid and rechargeable hybrid versions. If it flashes, the engine management system has a fault. If it stays on, the emissions control system has a fault.

What to do:

If the lamp is flashing:

  • There is a risk of destroying the catalytic converter.
  • You must contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If the lamp stays on:

  • The lamp should go off once the engine has started.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

Dynamic stability control /Anti-slip regulation (DSC)

Stability control warning light

Two icons are used here. The deactivation icon stays on when the DSC/ASR system has been switched off. The DSC icon flashes while the system is working after a loss of grip or trajectory, and stays on if the system has a fault.

What to do:

If the deactivation icon stays on:

  • The system reactivates automatically when you restart the vehicle, and at speeds above approximately 31 mph (50 km/h).
  • Below 31 mph (50 km/h), you can reactivate it manually.

If the DSC icon is flashing:

  • No action is needed, the system is regulating grip.

If the DSC icon stays on:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Emergency brake malfunction (with electric parking brake)

Stability control warning lightService warning light

This warning shows the DSC lamp together with the Service lamp. When both stay on with the message "Parking brake fault", emergency braking is not performing as well as it should.

What to do:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop quickly.

Under-inflation

Tyre pressure warning lightService warning light

This is the orange tyre under-inflation lamp. If it stays on by itself, the pressure in one or more tyres is too low. If it flashes, then stays on together with the Service lamp, the tyre pressure monitoring system is faulty.

What to do:

If the under-inflation lamp stays on by itself:

  • Check the tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • Reinitialise the detection system once you have adjusted the pressures.

If it flashes, then stays on with the Service lamp:

  • Tyre pressures are no longer being monitored.
  • Check the tyre pressures as soon as possible.
  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Parking sensors

Amber parking sensors indicator

This is the orange parking sensors lamp. It flashes when the system detects an obstacle. It stays on with a message when the system has a fault or a sensor is masked.

What to do:

If the lamp is flashing:

  • No action is needed, the system is warning you about an obstacle.

If it stays on with a message and an audible signal:

  • Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

If it stays on with the message "Parking Assistance Sensor blind: Clean sensor, see User Manual":

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch off the ignition.

Front passenger airbag (OFF)

Passenger airbag off indicator

This orange lamp shows the front passenger airbag status. When it stays on, the front passenger airbag is deactivated and its control is set to "OFF".

What to do:

  • You can fit a rearward-facing child seat on the front passenger seat, unless there is an airbag fault (Airbags warning lamp on).

Low fuel level (Petrol, Hybrid or Rechargeable hybrid)

Amber low fuel warning light

This is the orange low fuel lamp, which comes on with an audible signal and a message. When it first comes on, approximately 6 litres of fuel are left in the tank (the reserve). Until you refuel, the alert repeats every time you switch on the ignition, and more often as the level drops towards zero.

What to do:

  • Refuel without delay so you do not run out.
  • Never drive until the tank is completely empty, as this could damage the emissions control and injection systems.

Low traction battery level (Electric)

Amber traction battery warning light

If You're Not Sure

If you are not sure what a lamp is telling you, check whether it is steady or flashing and read any message on the instrument panel. If it is still unclear, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop, and if anything feels wrong while you are driving, stop somewhere safe first.

Orange lamps are there to get your attention, so act on the advice above rather than waiting. For full details of any system, refer to the relevant section of your Peugeot 3008 handbook.
