This orange lamp appears in the instrument panel. When it flashes, the engine management system has a fault. When it stays on, the emission control system has a fault.
What to do:
If the lamp is flashing:
- There is a risk of destroying the catalytic converter.
- Contact a qualified professional without fail.
If the lamp stays on:
- The lamp should go off once the engine is started.
- Contact a qualified professional quickly.
Engine diagnostic system

This orange lamp can appear as either of two symbols in the instrument panel. When it stays on, a minor engine fault has been detected.
What to do:
- Contact a qualified professional.
AdBlue® (with 1.6 litre BlueHDi Euro 6.1)

This orange lamp appears in the instrument panel. It stays on when you switch on the ignition, with an audible signal and a message showing the remaining driving range. It means you have between 1,500 and 375 miles (2,400 and 600 km) left before the AdBlue® runs out.
What to do:
- Top up the AdBlue® as soon as possible.
- Alternatively, contact a qualified professional.
AdBlue® (with 1.5 litre BlueHDi Euro 6.2)

This orange lamp appears in the instrument panel and comes on in four different ways, each with a message. The message shows either the remaining driving range or, once the AdBlue® tank is empty, that starting is prevented. When the tank is empty, the starting prevention system required by law stops the engine from starting.
What to do:
If the lamp comes on for around 30 seconds when you start the car (range between 1,500 and 500 miles, or 2,400 and 800 km):
If the lamp stays on when you switch on the ignition, with an audible signal (range between 500 and 62 miles, or 800 and 100 km):
- Top up the AdBlue® as soon as possible.
- Alternatively, contact a qualified professional.
If the lamp flashes with an audible signal and the range is less than 62 miles (100 km):
- Top up the AdBlue® to avoid a breakdown.
- Alternatively, contact a qualified professional.
If the lamp flashes with an audible signal and a message saying starting is prevented:
- Top up the AdBlue® to be able to restart the engine, adding at least 5 litres to the tank.
- Alternatively, contact a qualified professional.
SCR emissions control system

A fault with the SCR emissions control system is shown by the AdBlue® lamp together with the Service and Engine self-diagnosis lamps, plus an audible signal and a message. If the fault continues, the AdBlue® lamp flashes while the other two stay on, and an engine immobiliser will eventually stop the engine from restarting once the authorised driving limit is passed.
What to do:
If the lamps stay on when you switch on the ignition:
- The alert disappears once the exhaust emissions return to normal levels.
If the AdBlue® lamp flashes and the message shows the remaining driving range:
- Depending on the message, you can drive for up to 685 miles (1,100 km) before starting is prevented.
- Contact a qualified professional as soon as possible to avoid this.
If the AdBlue® lamp flashes and the engine cannot be restarted:
- Contact a qualified professional to get the engine started.
Rear foglamp

This orange lamp appears in the instrument panel. When it is on, your rear foglamp is on.
What to do:
- The handbook gives no specific action for this lamp.
If You're Not Sure
If an orange lamp comes on and you are not sure what it means, read any message shown in the instrument panel and check it against the descriptions above. If you are still in doubt, stay calm, stop somewhere safe when you can and contact a qualified professional.
Orange lamps rarely mean you have to stop straight away, but they should never be ignored. Knowing what each one means helps you act at the right time and keep your Peugeot 2008 running as it should.
