Peugeot 1007 I Indicators: Orange Warnings (2004-2010)

Orange warning lamps on the Peugeot 1007 explained: what each one means and what to do, based on the handbook for cars built from April 2008.

When a warning lamp stays on or flashes while the engine is running, it means there is an operating fault in the system concerned. Some lamps also sound an audible signal and show a message on the multifunction display. This guide explains what each lamp means and what you should do.

It covers the first-generation Peugeot 1007 (2004-2010) and is based on handbook edition ed01-08, which applies to vehicles produced from 01/04/2008. Some lamps depend on your version or equipment, such as Diesel engines or the "2 Tronic" gearbox, so your car may not have every one listed here.

WARNING LIGHTS WA A permanently lit warning light or one flashing, with the engine running, indicates an operating fault of the unit concerned. The illumination of certain warning lights may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction display. Do not ignore this warning: consult a PEUGEOT dealer

This is the general rule for all the warning lamps. If a lamp stays on or flashes while the engine is running, the system it relates to has an operating fault. Some lamps also come with an audible signal and a message on the multifunction display.

What to do:

  • Do not ignore the warning.
  • Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

If the central STOP warning light comes on when you are driving, stop your vehicle immediately, where it is safe to do so. Central STOP warning light

This lamp shows the word STOP. It comes on for a few seconds every time you switch on the ignition. It works together with the engine oil pressure and temperature, punctured wheel, maximum coolant temperature, handbrake, low brake fluid level and electronic brake force distribution warning lamps.

What to do:

  • If it comes on while you are driving, stop your vehicle immediately, where it is safe to do so.

Service warning light

This is the service lamp. It comes on for a few seconds every time you switch on the ignition. If it comes on with the engine running, together with an audible signal and a message on the multifunction display, there is a problem in one of the systems that does not have its own warning lamp.

What to do:

  • Read the message on the multifunction display to find out which system is affected.
  • Check the remote control battery, the tyre pressures, the engine oil level, the screenwash level and the condition of the bulbs.
  • In all other cases, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Punctured wheel warning light

This lamp shows the punctured wheel symbol and works together with the central STOP lamp. It comes on for a few seconds every time you switch on the ignition. If it comes on while you are moving, one or more wheels are punctured, and you will hear an audible signal and see a message on the multifunction display showing which wheel is affected.

What to do:

  • You must stop, somewhere safe.
  • Change the damaged wheel.
  • Have the damaged wheel repaired by a PEUGEOT dealer.

Anti-lock braking system warning light (ABS)

Anti-lock braking system warning light (ABS) warning lamp icon

This lamp shows the letters ABS. It comes on for a few seconds every time you switch on the ignition. If it stays on, or comes on above 8 mph (12 km/h), there is a fault with the ABS. Your car still keeps conventional servo-assisted braking.

What to do:

  • Remember that you still have conventional servo-assisted braking, but without ABS.
  • The handbook advises consulting a PEUGEOT dealer when the lamp indicates an ABS fault.

Electronic stability control system warning light (ESP/ASR)

Electronic stability control system warning light (ESP/ASR) warning lamp icon

This is the ESP/ASR lamp. It comes on for a few seconds every time you switch on the ignition. With the engine running and the car moving, it flashes when the system is working. It stays on permanently when the system has been switched off.

What to do:

If the lamp flashes while you are driving:

  • This shows the system is working, so no action is needed.

If the lamp stays on:

  • This shows the system is switched off.

Emission control system warning light

What to do:

  • Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

Diesel engine pre-heat warning light

This is the pre-heat lamp on Diesel models. When it is lit, the engine is not ready to start yet. If the temperature is high enough, it comes on for less than one second.

What to do:

If the lamp is lit when you switch on the ignition:

  • Wait until the lamp goes out before starting the engine.

If the lamp comes on for less than one second:

  • You can start the engine straight away.

What to do:

If the lamp is on:

  • Put your foot on the brake pedal.

If the lamp is flashing:

  • You have not pressed the brake pedal yet, so put your foot on it.

Low fuel level warning light

What to do:

  • Bear in mind that you have only approximately 30 miles (50 km) of driving left.

  • Consult a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.

Passenger air bag disarmed warning light

This lamp shows the passenger air bag symbol. It comes on for a few seconds every time you switch on the ignition. It stays on when the passenger air bag is disarmed.

What to do:

If the lamp stays on:

  • This confirms the passenger air bag is disarmed.

If the lamp flashes:

  • Always consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

Front, steering column, side and curtain air bags warning light

Front, steering column, side and curtain air bags warning light warning lamp icon

This lamp shows the air bag symbol. It comes on for a few seconds every time you switch on the ignition. If it comes on with the engine running, together with an audible signal, there is a fault in the front, steering column, side or curtain air bags.

What to do:

  • Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

If You're Not Sure

If you are not sure which lamp is lit, read the message on the multifunction display, which tells you which system is concerned. Do not ignore a lamp that stays on or flashes with the engine running: consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

Most of these lamps light up briefly every time you switch on the ignition, which is normal. What matters is a lamp that stays on or flashes once the engine is running, so take note of it and follow the advice above for that lamp.
