Orange warning lamps on your dashboard tell you that a system on the car has a fault or, in some cases, that a system is working. Some need you to stop, while others mean you should have the car checked.

This guide covers the first-generation Peugeot 107 built from 1 February 2012. Some lamps depend on the version or equipment of your car, so not every lamp here may appear on yours.

Braking

This braking warning lamp comes on steadily together with the ABS warning lamp. When both are lit, the braking system has a fault.

What to do:

  • Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Park and switch off the ignition.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

This is the ABS warning lamp. If it stays on steadily, the anti-lock braking system has a fault, although your car still has conventional braking.

What to do:

  • Drive carefully and at reduced speed.
  • Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

Electronic stability programme (ASR/ESP)

The ASR/ESP system has two warning lamps, each with its own meaning. One comes on steadily when the system is in action, and the other comes on steadily when the system has a fault.

What to do:

If the lamp showing the system is in action comes on:

  • No action is needed: the system is optimising traction and improving the directional stability of your car.

If the lamp showing a system fault comes on:

  • Have the ASR/ESP system checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

Emission control system

This is the emission control system warning lamp. It should go off once the engine is started, and if it stays on steadily, the emission control system has a fault.

What to do:

  • Check that the lamp goes off after you start the engine.
  • If it stays on, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.

If You're Not Sure

If you are not sure what a lamp means or it does not behave as described here, stay calm, stop somewhere safe if you need to and check your handbook, or ask a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop for advice.

Orange lamps on your Peugeot 107 are there to warn you early, so take note when one comes on and follow the steps above to keep your car safe on the road.
